Happy New Year!

It’a almost february’s 10 on 10 and I have not even said Happy New Year…how is this possible?

Life is moving along so quick I cannot catch my breath, but we are having fun and enjoying each little new stage of Blakey’s first year!

I have worked hard for the past month to focus on things at home and to be really intentional about how I spend my time {blogging has obviously not made it on the “must-do” list}. I can be so scattered and “in-the-moment” that I have decided it’s time to change things up. In this season of life I have to learn to just get into a daily routine, develop some healthy habits and focus on enjoying the spontaneity of life when it does happen but not live in that everyday. So naturally with all that in mind my word of the year {actually phrase of the year} is:

embrace routine

I realize that for some of you this is a real head-scratcher. Why would I need to embrace routine or even focus on this as a concept? I’m certain that routine comes naturally to most people {and especially during the motherhood stage of life}. But I am not one of those people that it comes by it naturally. I will talk more about it more some other time but for now here are a few of my favorite posts from last year! Enjoy!

ten on ten : january 2015

Our ten on ten {a day when I follow along with a bit of sunshine & take ten pictures on the tenth day of the month} was a lovely Saturday. It involved a baby sprinkle {shower} for a sweet friend, organizing the garage, legos, kids playing, coffee and ended with an evening at my moms and a yummy family dinner. Aaron chopped up our Christmas tree for out green bin and the remaining holiday decorations were finally tucked away for next year. It was the perfect weekend day…relaxing and productive and even allowed for some intentional connecting with family and friends. Truly those are the best kids of days for me…a little social, a little productive, a little relaxing and a lot of fun. Blake continues to delight our hearts and as he is approaching 6 months and it’s hard to believe we ever lived without him! Hope you are enjoying a lovely weekend of doing all sorts of fun and relaxing things too!

Catching up…

It’s been a busy holiday season with a baby, an ongoing cough and busy big kid stuff. And while it has been twinkly and cozy and fun i am warn out. Lots to report, post, share…but it can wait. For today I’m trying to rest and simply linger in the hope of a tiny baby born to change the world. To become “God with us” and the prince of peace. An everlasting Father, mighty counselor and friend and redeemer and comforter and Savior. Thank you sweet Jesus. I hope you know this hope I speak of but if you are new to the things of God or want to know more please drop me a line. I will do my best to get back to you and/ or pray for you!

Wishing you tidings of comfort and JOY! Hope Santa fills your stockings and there is plenty of nog to go around…Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

my dear friend nicole

Hey there! Have I told you about my dear friend Nicole?

She has been in my life for years but took off for South Africa just before we moved back to the Bay Area. Bummer for me. But wonderful for tons of adorable and loveable orphans in South Africa. That’s right. She is working as one of our church’s missionaries living and serving at the El Roi Baby Home in conjunction with the Refilwe Community Project in Johannesburg, South Africa. Nicole is currently caring for 12 babies between the ages of 4 months and 2 years old and is managing a team of 9 local and international Aunties who help tend to the babies 24/7. Nicole also sits on the management team for Refilwe and plays a crucial role in helping care for the spiritual and practical needs of all the international volunteers that live and serve at Refilwe.

I just love her so much and cannot think of very many people who are as well-suited for their job as she is.

So are you curious about how you can support her?

First, check out her blog:

Next {if you live locally} please come to a holiday boutique that our MOPS is hosting this weekend. My mom, sister and I are all selling items to support Nicole. 100% of our profits go to Nicole to use for her and her sweet babes. That’s right…100%…so come buy our stuff. If you have been to one of her fundraising events you are familiar with her jarred treats and notebooks…I will have those available to by at our table as well! The boutique will be held at Valley Bible Church in Pleasanton, CA.

And finally,  please join in praying for Nicole in all of her roles at Refilwe, that God would uphold her in strength, wisdom, grace and love as she cares for the precious babies at El Roi and all the members of the Refilwe community.

happy thanksgiving

From our thankful pancakes to your turkey dinner…I hope you have the happiest of days giving THANKS around a table with people you love!
