favoriteTHINGS Friday

I love these beautiful flowers!
They are tall, vibrant and have gorgeous colors!

They always bloom in summer at nana & papa’s house…reaching tall to try and touch the sun. I love their crepe paper like petals…they just make my heart smile!
I hope they make your heart smile today!

don’t forget the scones {this EASTER}

 As I mentioned the other day…we had a lovely Easter Tea for the kids last weekend. My fabulous sis-n-law makes the most amazing food. She can cook, bake and comes up with great party menus. She made everything you see here from scratch! Amazing! My mother-in-law has lovely taste, lots of vintage dishes and found these adorable Peter Rabbit plates for the kids. Paige helped her decorate this little table {her Lalaloopsy doll even got to join us} and I got to help in the kitchen {something I always love to do when Auntie Shannon is cooking}! Check out the menu and some links below. It was tasty and fun! The perfect combo for any tea party!
Our sweet little friend Hali joined us! So fun!

*To get the recipes for Cowboy and Cowgirl Quiche check out The Pioneer Woman’s latest cookbook HERE or go online to a recipe very similar HERE {just leave out the artichoke hearts and trade the cheese with cheddar to make the Cowboy version in her cookbook}.
*Auntie Shannon is a huge fan of America’s Test Kitchen and often makes their recipes. I couldn’t believe how effortlessly she made everything that day! To be fancy like her & make these amazing Blueberry Scones check out this FREE Content {if you are not an America’s Test Kitchen subscriber already}:

Easter 2013

 We just got back from a quick Easter weekend up in Northern California with Aaron’s family. It was so great to catch up with everyone and see our sweet nephews. The only bummer was that our brother-in-law could not make it. Yummy food. Cute kids. Bubbles. Tea Parties. Visits with friends. Dancing Easter Bunnies. Egg Dying. Candy.
Fun was had by all.
 Nana picked out cute outfits for all the kids. They looked like little catalog models!
 We call Grant Dapper Dan when he looks all handsome like this!
Sweet Little Lady Paigey!

After we got the kids dressed in their fun outfits we walked to the old courthouse across the street and tried to get pictures of all 4 kids…well…maybe next time!

Then we went back to the house for a tea party!

Nature girl!
 We were able to get a few cute pics with Nana & Papa!
Our tea party was AMAZING! More on this soon!
One of the things that yielded the most fun was an hour of bubble mania while Shannon & I cooked for the tea party! Never underestimate the power of bubbles to entertain children!
I hope you had a fun and relaxing Easter weekend with your family!

{NANA’S SUGAR COOKIES}

favoriteTHINGS Friday

I never had the chance to post this recipe at Christmas time but it is worth posting now. My mother-in-law makes these every year with the kids. They are the best sugar cookies I have had!
I figure they are good anytime of year so try them out. Enjoy!
Nana’s Sugar Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup Butter (at room temperature)
1 1/4 cup of Sugar
2 Eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
1/4 tsp. Almond Extract
3 1/2 cups Flour
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
Directions:
Beat butter until creamy. Beat in sugar, eggs, vanilla & almond extract. Stir together flour, baking powder & salt. Add to butter mixture and beat well. Cover and chill for 1 hour or just start rolling out cookie dough as it usually is just fine to do so. Roll out and cut into shapes of choice! Bake in 400 degree oven for 6 to 8 minutes or lightly brown (around the edges of the cookies).

walking in a winterWONDERLAND

At the beginning of December we made a trek up North to Nana & Papa’s house for what’s becoming quite the tradition::to cut down our own Christmas tree! We got up into the mountains just far enough to play in the snow, make a snowman, toss around some snowballs and cut down our cute little tree. Once again, fun was had by all!
…fun with Nana & Papa…
…we got a small, thin tree this year (it really shows off the ornaments) but we have chopped down huge ones in the past…
…my manly guy uses an axe like it’s no big deal and makes it look so easy…
…poor guy got snow in his boots the minute he stepped out of the truck…
…Grant liked the snow but was pretty cold & whiny most of the time…

…Paigey LOVED the snow…
 …even in the snow a girl can look cute, right?…
…every time the snowman changed she wanted to pose next to him…
…thanks Nana, Papa and Mr. Snowman…
{hope to see you again next year}
