ten on ten {august 2014}

…all about BLAKE…

For the most part our life is all about our little BLAKE {otherwise known as Blakey} right now! He was the star of this months ten on ten! We have had a ton of lazy summer days just holding the baby and enjoying the slow pace. We are soaking up every minute of our new life as a family of 5. I am loving this sweet boys cuddles and even though I have been pretty tired I will take it {I’ve only had a few meltdowns and overwhelmed moments so far}! Sometimes it’s hard to just be lazy, holding the baby all day {guilt-free} and stay in…but the school year and routine life are coming soon and we know Blake will be in kindergarten before we know it! I love that ten on ten allows me to capture the beauty all around us and the tiny moments of our ever day life. Enjoy and Happy Summer!

{P.S. cookies for breakfast work for me…they had oatmeal}

{HUME LAKE} a little photo shoot in our favorite place

hume lake graphic Every summer we take off for a week and stay at Hume Lake Christian Camps with our best friends from college. We typically stay in cabins {although we have camped as well}. It usually consists of three families {this year was only two}, great memories, late nights, fishing, s’mores, laughter, chaos, relaxation, perfect weather, beauty, God’s abundant presence, coffee, milkshakes and burgers, lazy days and I could go on & on! This year was as wonderful as we expected and we were able to squeeze in a fun little photo shoot of our family. The pictures are not perfect but they are pretty fun and the scenery could not be more beautiful. I love thinking of baby boy being with us next year {instead of making me an exhausted pregnant mama this year}! The tradition of going to this gorgeous lake every year is something our whole family looks forward to…we are beginning to feel like summer is not summer without our beloved HUME! Hope you are enjoying some of your favorite summer traditions as well!

jen’s favorite dessert {Ice Cream Pudding Dessert}

This delicious Ice Cream Pudding Dessert has been my sisters favorite for years! The directions are simple and the taste is scrumptious! It takes a few steps of layers and you are all set! This is not a very detailed recipe so check out the pictures of each step to get a better idea! Enjoy!
Start with the crust.  Combine the following ingredients and press into a 9×13 pan:
1 (1/2) cups graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
Next blend together the pudding & the milk. Once combined add the ice cream & layer the mixture on top of the graham cracker crust:
2 large INSTANT vanilla pudding packs
2  (2/3) cup milk
1 quart of chocolate ice cream
Finally add a large container of thawed cool whip on top and sprinkle with sliced almonds (these are optional but add texture and color…if you have time I think they taste better toasted). Be sure to chill immediately if you will not be eating it right away. Hope you love it as much as our family!
LOOK OUT!
The only problem with this dessert is that it will not last long.
SHOPPING LIST:
  • 1 (1/2) cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 large INSTANT vanilla pudding packs
  • 2 (2/3) cup milk
  • 1 quart of chocolate ice cream
  • large cool whip container (be sure to thaw in time)
  • small bag of sliced almonds (1/2 – 2/3 cup)

ingredients for some summerFUN

Sidewalk Chalk
Mommy’s Tools
A Bowl of Ice Cubes
 Simply mix the above ingredients {in no particular order} and smash away. Draw something. Cut some ice before it melts.  Play some hopscotch. This recipe should yield a few minutes of summerFUN!

Who knew ice and a hammer could be so fun!!!

Last summer Paigey was really into Tangled.  Here is her side-walk chalk drawing of Rapunzel…I could not believe how big it was! Her cute little 3 year old mind did this all by herself!
